How High-Visibility Dog Coats Could Make A Difference To Your Charity

Canine charities work tirelessly to support and care for dogs, ensuring they lead happy, healthy lives. High-visibility dog coats, reflective lead sleeves and working dog bandanas provide our four-legged friends with the visibility, identification and protection they need. Colan has extensive experience producing customised canine products, working with charities such as Guide Dogs, Pets as Therapy and Canine Partners. Our high-visibility items not only offer practical advantages for the dogs but are made from the highest-quality materials making them comfortable to wear and long-lasting.

The Importance Of Visibility And Safety

Colan’s working dog coats came about around 33 years ago, when the founder of the charity Dogs for Good (previously called Dogs for the Disabled until 2015), Frances Hay, came into our factory and asked us to make her dogs look like working ones. At the time, Frances only had two dogs but we came up with our coats, which did the trick! Since then, we have made working dog coats for a number of charities.

Many charities train dogs to develop specific skills, such as search and rescue, therapy or guide assistance. Working dogs need to focus on their tasks, especially in distracting environments. Customised dog coats provide clear identification that helps to minimise unnecessary interactions from well-meaning individuals who may want to approach or pet the dog. Colan’s canine range can educate the public about the various roles dogs play in society, encouraging them to give the space and attention they need to perform effectively. Our entire canine range uses high-visibility or reflective materials to ensure that your furry companions are easily spotted, reducing the risk of accidents and enhancing their overall safety.

Working Dog Coats

Our canine coats are available in a range of materials, colours and sizes with adjustable velcro straps or buckle fastenings. They can be custom printed with your charity’s logo and dog’s role, e.g., ‘Puppy in Training’. The option to add reflective strips on either side of the coat ensures your dogs are easily visible, even in low-light conditions. Please note that they are not full-length jackets for use in colder weather; their primary purpose is to display a message. Products manufactured for registered charities and organisations cannot be purchased by the general public.

Reflective Lead Sleeves

Colan’s range of lead sleeves is a popular choice for many dog charities. Their velcro fastenings make them easy to slip onto any standard dog lead, providing a simple yet effective solution for safer walks. Your logo or message informs the public that they are approaching a working dog and reflective badges on both sides add an extra layer of visibility, making the dog and its walker more noticeable to passing vehicles and pedestrians.

Working Dog Bandanas

Bandanas help to visually communicate to passersby that your dog is working or in training. Our range of bright colours draws attention to your chosen message or logo printed on the bandana. The high-visibility material helps dogs to carry out their role as they are easily distinguished from a distance. Showcasing your charity’s logo not only strengthens your organisation’s brand but also sets working dogs apart.
