As we can offer a wide variety of colours, apart from the fluorescent yellow and orange children seem to accept that wearing something different is cool. Over the years and even today, children want something that they are comfortable with otherwise they will not use it.
Certainly younger children will accept wearing or using something bright and reflective, it is the older age group that is the problem. According to a report from the AA, a staggering 5000 children under 16 years of age die or are seriously injured on the road each year.
School uniforms are nearly always dark in colour, which does not help us with the "Be Safe Be Seen" message so what do we do to encourage the 11 to 16 age group. If you have an idea then let us know, we would love to find a product acceptable to this age group.
We find our fluorescent / reflective rucksack strap covers are something that is proving acceptable. These are inexpensive but a useful item that can easily be fitted to a rucksack without having to remove it daily.
